I'm Jess, a pediatric and culinary nutritionist who is passionate about ensuring nourishing meals are accessible to every child and family. Whether I'm working with children or adults managing complex medical diets or preparing delicious private meals for individuals and families, my mission is to show that food can be both nourishing and joyful, no matter the circumstances.
My primary goal throughout college was to become a registered dietitian specializing in pediatric mental health. I continued my education as a full-time distance-learning student so I could work full-time while earning my degree. My schedule was demanding: classes Monday through Wednesday, followed by work Wednesday through Sunday, often working 10-hour shifts and more than 50 hours each week. I worked at one of the nation's leading pediatric hospitals, where I cared for infants and children with complex nutritional needs in oncology and inpatient critical care; an experience that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
During those years, I realized that lifestyle wasn't sustainable for me, and my career goals began to shift. I experienced severe burnout and found myself losing my passion for traditional clinical practice. At the same time, I had the privilege of working alongside incredibly talented culinary professionals who inspired me to deepen my love of cooking. That inspiration changed the course of both my career and my life.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate alongside a traditional Italian restaurant, where I immersed myself in authentic Italian cooking. I spent three years learning their techniques, exploring flavors, and preparing meals for private clients. Eventually, I transitioned from clinical nutrition into the culinary world, building a career as a personal chef creating customized meals for families with dietary restrictions, medical conditions, and unique preferences. It was an opportunity I never imagined for myself, especially without formal culinary school training.
My journey with food has been deeply personal. I started dancing at four years old and pursued classical ballet for 11 years, where I was immersed in a culture that demanded extraordinary precision. Every movement, every line, and every expression of the body was scrutinized. Dancers spend countless hours in front of a mirror striving to perfect every detail, often becoming hyperaware of every perceived flaw. Over time, that relentless pursuit of perfection extended far beyond the studio and contributed to a decade-long battle with anorexia nervosa.
Recovery transformed not only my relationship with food but also my understanding of health, strength, and myself. With the guidance of an incredible dietitian, I learned that food is not something to fear but a source of nourishment, connection, creativity, and healing.
As I recovered, I let go of veganism, which had been rooted in restriction rather than nourishment, and began reconnecting with my culture through food. I became fascinated by where food comes from, the people who grow and prepare it, the ways the earth and its animals nourish our bodies, and the stories woven into every meal. Instead of viewing food as something to control, I began seeing it as a gift that fuels our bodies, brings people together, and allows us to create, connect, and thrive. That shift in perspective ignited a passion for helping others experience the same freedom.
What began as a deeply personal journey in the kitchen has grown into a career where I combine the art of cooking with the science of nutrition. Today, I have the privilege of helping children, individuals, and families build healthier relationships with food while creating meals that are both deeply nourishing and genuinely enjoyable. It is incredibly meaningful to help others discover that eating well isn't about restriction or perfection; it's about cultivating a way of living that supports both physical and emotional well-being.
I no longer pursue ballet full-time and instead choose to incorporate the art into my life whenever my soul needs it. This website is a reflection of the many facets of my journey: the dancer who learned resilience, the patient who found healing through food, the nutrition professional who is passionate about pediatric care, and the chef who believes food should always be a source of joy, connection, and empowerment.
Whether you're looking for nourishing recipes or a private chef to help support your family's mealtime needs, I hope you find something here that inspires you. I’m so excited to share this space with you, where food is for everyone, always
